Jeff McMahon’s selection of overlooked solutions are certainly surprising:
- Educate girls. Educated women tend to choose smaller families and are able to make better home choices.
- Protect native lands. “communities that are protecting their forests, their native lands, tend to have forests that are healthier, that have more biological diversity, and those forests inevitably store more carbon”.
- Capture refrigerants. HFCs are powerful greenhouse gases and it is claimed 90% of the refrigerant escapes at the end of an air-conditioner’s life.
